The StartupLab is a dedicated innovation space where students with early stage business ideas can meet-up to test and develop their ideas in a supportive environment with like-minded peers.Available on both the Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses, the StartupLab is open to all students working on a new business idea or entrepreneurial project as part of their studies.

The Big Pitch

The Big Pitch is an annual business pitching competition that takes place during semester 2 and is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students at Anglia Ruskin University. Following on from The Little Pitch, the aim of the competition is to give them the chance to pitch to win seed funding as well as expert business mentoring.

How do I protect my ideas? How do I market a new business or product? How do I balance the books? How can I test my idea out? Where can I get funding from? How do I stay inspired? These free one-hour evening seminars are for students and staff who want to find out more about the world of business and entrepreneurship. Delivered by expert practitioners who are also successful entrepreneurs in a wide range of fields, these seminars will take place on our Chelmsford and Cambridge campuses.

Enterprise Society

The Anglia Ruskin Enterprise Society is a student led, non-profit organisation that aims to inspire and develop enterprising culture. They organise extra-curricular events, social meetings, skills development workshops and networking opportunities for career focused and entrepreneurial individuals. The main activities are in Cambridge at the moment but are looking for opportunities to grow in Chelmsford.

Anglia Ruskin Enterprise Academy (AREA) is a central ‘hub’ based in the Lord Ashcroft International Business School that develops, coordinates and consolidates all enterprise and entrepreneurship extra-curricular activities across the whole of Anglia Ruskin.

This Involves students at the heart of these activities including, (but not limited to): Be Your Own Boss Seminars; Entrepreneurship Support Programmes and our Business Planning competitions – The Little Pitch and The Big Pitch that provides seed funding and mentoring as part of the university’s student enterprise agenda. And by building on cutting edge research and engaging with external organisations including: SME’s, Public and Private sector organisations will develop a programme that engages students in real life activities.
